Datanla Waterfall in Dalat and downhill
In 140 kilometers from the coast of the South China Sea, Dalat is located, which is famous for its majestic waterfalls, striking with its history, beauty and folk beliefs. One of the most popular is Datanna.
According to local legends, in the pre-dawn hour, when the sun rises above the horizon, magical fairies bathe in the splashes of the waterfall.
The waterfall of Datanla is difficult to call large, because its total length is only 350 m. However, it is very popular with tourists, because it is located almost in the center of the city. This affects the number of people who want to visit it, especially on weekends.
If you want to feel the beauty of Dalat, you just need to visit its waterfalls, and Datanlaa is one of the first. There are several objective reasons for this:
- Beautiful nature and fresh mountain air;
- a romantic trip over a waterfall and a canyon;
- the opportunity to ride on electrosleeps (for fans of extreme sports);
- for fans of archery – the opportunity to practice;
- lift in the middle of the jungle (I think this is something that must necessarily be looked at).
It is desirable to allocate 3-4 hours of your time for a visit.
How to get to Datanlaa Park
If you are in the center, it is easy to catch a taxi (or ask to call a taxi at the reception), which will take you to the waterfall for about 50-100 thousand dong on the meter. Ask the taxi driver to come back for you or wait, it will simplify the return to the city.
For fans of public transport – you can take the bus number 11 from the center of Dalat . Ask the driver to stop at the Datanlaa Waterfall (Datanlaa Waterfall, or “Datanlaa Waterfall”), he must understand you. Or show a photo or a point on the map. The cost of the trip is 10 thousand dong.
The best way to travel around Dalat, and in Vietnam as a whole, rent a motobike. The cost of rent per day will be approximately 100-130 thousand dong, which, in principle, is quite inexpensive. However, be careful on the roads and always wear a helmet, the movement in Vietnam is just crazy.
And the last, less comfortable, is a walk to the waterfall, which takes about an hour from the city center to the entrance to the park (the distance to the falls is only 5 km).
Another option, which is much less tiring and at the same time allows you to enjoy a beautiful view from above, is a journey by cable car .
Route the route to Cable Car Da Lat (Cable Car, Phường 3, tp. Đà Lạt, Lâm Đồng, Vietnam) – a cable car, located approximately 2.4 km from the city center.
The cost of a trip in the cab of the funicular is 50 thousand dong in one direction and 70 thousand for a ticket there and back.
The cable car will take you to the Trúc Lâm temple and the Buddhist temple of Thiền Viện Trúc Lâm Đà Lạt, located near Lake Tuyen Lam.
Next, you only need to overcome the remaining 2.4 km before entering the park. At the funicular stop there is a taxi, the driver of any of which will happily take you to the Datanla waterfall for 20,000 dong.
What to see
Entrance to the park, where the Datanla waterfall is located, costs 20 000 dong for adults and 10 thousand dong for children below 120 cm.
As it turned out, before the first cascade of Datanlae you can go on foot or ride a roller shutter (sleigh, which is fixed on rails, very similar to the roller coaster). This type of transport is double, with a self-regulating speed due to the handbrake. From personal experience – it is better to sit alone and apply the brake only on corners, for the sharpness of sensations.
For such entertainment, too, have to pay, but in another window, with the inscription “Ticket Office”.
But entertainment is definitely worth it.
It resembles an electric power station on the island of Vinperl’s entertainment in Nyachang, only there you can stand in line for up to two hours, and here everything happens very quickly. We recommend immediately to determine the speed of descent, in order not to delay other tourists.
Local people believe that if you look at the water for a long time, you can immerse yourself in a state of meditation. For this purpose even special high chairs are installed there. You can also climb to the bridge that is above the waterfall, and along the stone stairs to the right of the cascade to come closer to the “magical” streams of water.
For fans of outdoor activities on the first waterfall, you can practice archery for only 20 thousand dong for 3 arrows.
You can reach the second in two ways: on foot or on a cable car.
The whole journey will take no more than 5 minutes. But the impressions will remain unforgettable. The cockpit moves silently and smoothly, and around there is a mysterious atmosphere of the jungle. Down below, a mountain river rolls loudly, a multicolored rainbow flares up in the sparks of water.
On the way back you will need to use the elevator: 40 000 dong for adults and 30 000 – for children.
By the third cascade, which is surprising, not all tourists do. And in vain. After all, a six-seater lift climbs up to it, which looks rather strange in the mountains. Near the exit from the elevator there is a short staircase that will lead you to the observation deck.
In conclusion, I would like to say that there are many interesting places in the vicinity of Dalat. But the waterfall of Datanna admires the beautiful panoramas. The territory is compact and has an excellent tourist infrastructure, which makes moving around the park of Datanla fast and convenient.
We hope that the information will be useful to you.
Have a nice rest!
